Summer in Brookings

Wow, what a day! We spent a restful night on the hook in Port Orford, and then awoke to find very little fog. In fact, the visibility was nearly 20 miles, although still overcast. We motored all the way to the Rogue River Reef near Gold Beach, but then we sailed most of the rest of the day, tacking against a 5-8 kt south wind. As on every day so far, we sighted innumerable murres with chicks, and several sea lions. Because the conditions were so mild, we were able to tack right up to Mack Arch, a spectacular rock formation south of Pistol River. The sun came out for the last 5 miles to Brookings. Our last stop in Oregon!
