Biking Humboldt County
We thought we would get an early start today, but didn't leave the boat until 11. We are so comfortable in our floating home! But finally we headed out on the bikes, over the bridge to Samoa, and north through flat and windy farmland across the bay. The weather, the terrain, and the pervasive smell of cattle all reminded us of numerous rides we had done during our year living in Holland (1992-3). Except for the fox -- don't see too many of those in Holland. We rode the Hammond Trail across the Mad River and north along the coast until we had a good view back to Trinidad Head, where we had anchored a couple of nights ago. After lunch, we rode back south to Arcata, where we were too late for the farmers' market. Vicki reminisced about her college days at Humboldt State, and then we loaded the bikes aboard a bus for the ride back to Eureka.
Back in the marina, we had happy hour aboard m/v "Magic" with Tracy and Kathleen, who brought her south from Tacoma 3 years ago. What a difference between a 38' sailboat and a 48' power boat!

Humboldt County,
Hmmmm, ok.
I think you are enjoying yourselves.
I am only a little jealous.
