Get out of town!

We hope to head downriver in a few days. The boat is pretty much ready, the standing rigging has been static-tuned and all the running rigging is back in place. Once we get to Astoria, we may have to wait awhile for a weather window before we cross the bar, as our friends Cory and Nancy on Balancing Act have been doing.

Astoria ! You will love it.....a groovy little downtown. s/v Gertrud was there for a few weeks, summer's end, 2004. Her crew needed warm showers and comfort food after arriving from the Staights of Juan de Fuca. . We found the first necessity near the docks. Then a rowdy pub drew us in, just a short walk towards town. We were a bit ragged after a challanging crossing of that bar: fog, rain and thick boat traffic. With no bimini (is that what that canopy is called?) , eye glasses were salt smeared, paper charts were disappearing in hand, and the gps had blacked out, as we were not yet rain nor water proofed......radar? what radar !!
We loved almost all of it !
happy sails, love Cathy
